I Am Super Woman

I have a confession to make. I am really super woman. Yes, I can do it all! I can read a devotional book while vacuuming the floor, I can pack 2 lunches while eating my healthy whole wheat toast and banana sandwich breakfast, and help with homework while doing 3 loads of laundry. Oh, and did I mention today was guitar lessons and cheerleading practice? And that’s not all! I can even make a homemade from scratch meal to take to another family, make a completely different one for my family (since they would never eat a casserole), and then teach a class of nineteen 3 and 4 year olds. All in one day! Does this sound familiar? Are you a super woman too?

But then of course, that day came like we all know it does. One of the kids was sick, my husband was out of town, and the car broke down (well, actually, I ran out of gas). I was supposed to volunteer at the school and pick up a gift for a birthday party the next day. We were also out of milk. I yelled at my daughter for no reason other than the fact I was frustrated, and I let both children eat frozen pizza for dinner for the 3rd time that week. When I finally got ready for bed that night, I prayed to God and said, “Why do I feel like such a failure? Why is everything going wrong?”

God reminded me of a scripture that has been one of my favorites for a long time. It’s 2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’.” The NLT says, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

It seems like every day I wake up thinking I can do it all on my own and nothing can get me down. But when things go wrong and I fail, God’s Word reminds me that He is there to help me and carry me through. Did I fall short? I have His grace. Could I not do it on my own? I have His power. In fact, if I can just let go and ADMIT that I am human (and not super woman), his power is PERFECT because I am admitting to him my weakness. What could be better than perfect?

This sounds too familiar. If we could just always remember and be mindful to let go as you say, and let Him…. Thank you for reminding us of His power and His strength.

    Sharon,
This article is so true! On days like these, I often felt like I was the only one that was falling apart- it is so refreshing to know other women are having days like mine. Thanks, Marleigh

    Sharon,

Thank you so much for writing this. I needed to hear this tonight, to remember that while weakness is looked down upon by the world, it is a precious treasure to God, who can do great things through my weakness. Just like the song says “they are weak but He is strong”, and YES, He loves me!

    Blessings to you!

    Maria :)
